Louisville baseball postgame reaction to CWS win vs. Oregon State
An Oregon State rally tied the game in the ninth inning. But Louisville’s players stayed resolute and took victory in the CWS game.
- Louisville baseball coach Dan McDonnell believes he has three future pro players on his team, including Eddie King Jr.
- King has excelled in the NCAA Tournament, hitting .531 with three home runs and 11 RBIs.
OMAHA, NE. — Louisville baseball coach Dan McDonnell believes he has at least three future pros on his team, and Eddie King Jr. is one of them.
The Chicago native is ending his college career in style as one of the major driving forces behind the Cardinals’ offense. During the NCAA Tournament, King has batted .531 with three home runs and 11 RBIs.
“I think he’s going to play the game for a long time,” McDonnell said of King. “He’s a good outfielder. There’s power. There’s contact. … I’m so excited and optimistic about guys like him and Jake Munroe and Matt Klein. These are professional hitters, I mean, real hitters. I don’t think they’re abusing an aluminum bat or small field. I think these three dudes can just flat out hit.”
King, Klein and Munroe will look to put together their best performances yet against Coastal Carolina in the College World Series semifinals at 2 p.m. today at Charles Schwab Field.
