Grant McCasland on Texas Tech basketball’s offseason, look ahead to 2025-26 season
The Texas Tech basketball team is headed back to the Bahamas during the 2025-26 season to take part in a star-studded event.
The Red Raiders will be joining Purdue, Memphis and Wake Forest in the Baha Mar Championship Nov. 20-21 at the Baha Mar Convention, Arts & Entertainment Center in Nassau. Texas Tech previously went to the Bahamas during the 2023-24 season for the Battle 4 Atlantis.
Texas Tech is slated to take on Wake Forest at 7:30 p.m. Central on Thursday, Nov. 20 following the contest between Purdue and Memphis. The winners will meet in the championship game at 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 21 with all games being aired on CBS Sports Network.
Purdue and Texas Tech are projected to be two of the top teams for the 2025-26 college basketball season. Gary Parrish of CBS Sports has the Boilermakers fourth and the Red Raiders seventh in his Top 25 and 1 rankings as of early June.
The Red Raiders will take on Wake Forest for the third time in program history with the teams last meeting in 2011 at the Old Spice Classic, a game won by the Demon Deacons 70-61. Tech and Purdue last place in the 2017 Sweet 16 and the Red Raiders last matched up with Memphis in 2019.
The event adds another layer to Tech’s improved non-conference schedule in Grant McCasland’s third year as head coach. Coming off the third Elite Eight appearance in program history and highlighted by the return of reigning Big 12 player of the year JT Toppin, the Red Raiders are loading up their pre-Big 12 competition.
Tech is scheduled to play at Illinois Nov. 11 as part of a home-and-home series with the Illini that will return to Lubbock during the 2026-27 season. The Red Raiders are also working toward a neutral site game against Duke at Madison Square Garden for Dec. 20 and are expected to take on LSU on Dec. 7 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. Those two games have yet to be officially announced.
