Williams named Head Basketball Coach at D3 Ozarks

The University of the Ozarks is excited to announce the hiring of Nate Williams as the new head coach of the Eagles men’s basketball program. Williams brings an impressive track record of success, leadership, and player development across NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III levels.

Williams most recently served as Assistant Coach at NCAA Division I Wofford College, where he helped guide the Terriers to a Southern Conference Tournament Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2025. Williams played a key role in player development, scouting, defensive strategy, and program logistics during one of Wofford’s most decorated seasons.

“We are thrilled to welcome Nate Williams to the University of the Ozarks,” said Director of Athletics Dr. Sergio Molina. “Nate is a proven winner who has impacted every program he’s been a part of. He has demonstrated a passion for NCAA Division III and has the energy and experience to lead our men’s basketball team to a new era of excellence.”

Before Wofford, Williams was instrumental in the success of Emmanuel College in Georgia, helping the Lions to a Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship and an NCAA Division II Tournament appearance in 2023. As an assistant coach that season, the Lions went 23-8 season and posted a 16-game win streak. He also served as Interim Head Coach during part of the 2019-2020 season at NCAA Division III University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.

“I’m thrilled to join the University of the Ozarks community,” said Williams. “From my first visit, it was clear that this is a place built on genuine relationships, tradition, and a deep sense of purpose. My vision is to create a competitive, high-energy program where our athletes thrive academically, athletically and personally. The University’s commitment to excellence in the classroom and on the court, along with its incredible campus and supportive environment, makes this a place where student-athletes can truly grow. I’m honored to be a part of it, and I can’t wait to get started and build something special here in Clarksville.”

Additionally, he was a graduate assistant at NCAA Division II Converse University in South Carolina. Throughout his coaching career, Williams has had players who have won Conference Player of the Year, NABC All-District honors and competed in the NBA G League.

A native of Sayre, Pennsylvania, Williams played at Emmanuel where he started in all 35 games his senior season. He helped Emmanuel to a pair of NCCAA national championships and hit 146 career three-pointers.

Williams holds a master’s degree in management and professional leadership from Converse and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Emmanuel.

Williams replaces Matt Bolton, who accepted a job at McMurry University.
