Iowa State women’s basketball player Audi Crooks showed up to Colorado Springs, Colorado, this week to battle with some of the nation’s best college players for a spot on the 2025 USA Women’s AmeriCup Team.
Crooks successfully made her case.
USA Basketball announced June 19 that Crooks was named to the USA Women’s AmeriCup Team’s 12-player roster. She’ll compete in the AmeriCup held June 28-July 6 at Santiago, Chile.
It’s a great opportunity for the Cyclones star from Algona, who has been one of the best players in college basketball since she stepped foot in Ames. Crooks became the fastest player in school history to reach 1,000 career points, reaching the mark in 49 games. She’ll be a junior in the fall.
Crooks led the Big 12 Conference in scoring last season, averaging 23.4 points per game, while shooting 60.5% from the floor. She helped the Cyclones reach the NCAA Tournament.
Crooks and Iowa State teammate Addy Brown were invited to the 2025 USA Women’s AmeriCup Team Training Camp. The camp was scheduled for June 16-24 at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado.
The beginning of the training camp included a tryout process for the team selection. The Junior National Team Committee was responsible selecting players. Brown did not make the team.
Crooks will be a part of a USA team that will open Group B by playing host nation Chile, followed by Colombia, Puerto Rico and Mexico. The winner of the 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup will earn a berth to the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup, which will take place in Berlin, Germany, next summer.
The 2025 USA Women’s AmeriCup Team includes Crooks, Raegan Beers, Mikayla Blakes, Madison Booker, Joyce Edwards, Hannah Hidalgo, Flau’jae Johnson, Gianna Kneepkens, Olivia Miles, Kennedy Smith, Hannah Stuelke and Grace VanSlooten.
Kara Lawson (Duke) will serve as head coach with assistant coaches DeLisha Milton-Jones (Old Dominion) and Jennie Baranczyk (Oklahoma).
