KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Tennessee basketball will open the 2025-26 season on Nov. 3, against Mercer, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reported on Thursday.
The Volunteers met the Bears eight times. The series is even at 4 apiece. It’s the first meeting between the two programs since 2017, when Tennessee won 84-60.
Mercer’s last win in the series came in the 2013 NIT. The Bears defeated the Vols 75-67 in the first round of the tournament.
The series dates back to 1913. Mercer won the inaugural meeting 24-18.
The 2025-26 season will be the 11th of the Rick Barnes era at Tennessee.
