Recruiting background: A 6-foot-3, 205-pound linebacker out of Hillsdale (N.J.) Pascack Valley, Adam Shaw committed to the Spartans on the heels of an official visit to East Lansing and just six days after decommitting from Rutgers. He was pledged to the Scarlet Knights for just 10 days before reopening his recruitment, but he now becomes commit No. 18 for head coach Jonathan Smith and his staff in the 2026 recruiting cycle. Michigan State defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Joe Rossi spearheaded the recruitment of the New Jersey native, who was recruited as a linebacker but plays primarily quarterback for his high school team. In 12 games as a junior, Shaw tallied six tackles, two pass breakups and one forced fumble on the defensive side of the ball, per MaxPreps. Offensively, he completed 103 of 171 passes (60.2%) for 1,341 yards with 13 touchdowns to three interceptions while rushing for an additional 1,021 yards and 15 touchdowns on 106 carries.

Academy, Kayden Bennett committed to the Fighting Illini over Temple and UConn and additional Power Four offers from Boston College, Syracuse, Wake Forest, Washington and West Virginia, among others. Illinois outside linebackers coach Trent Harris was the lead recruiter for the Connecticut native, who made the announcement in the wake of an official visit to Champaign. Bennett is commit No. 20 for head coach Bret Bielema and his staff in the 2026 recruiting cycle.

Recruiting background: A 5-foot-9, 178-pound safety out of Sarasota (Fla.) Cardinal Mooney, LaRon Dues committed to the Hoosiers in the wake of an official visit to Bloomington, choosing Curt Cignetti’s program over offers from West Virginia, Arizona, Georgia Tech, Kentucky and Oregon, among others. Indiana safeties coach Ola Adams was the lead recruiter for the Sunshine State product, who becomes the 18th member of the Hoosiers’ 2026 recruiting class. In 13 games as a junior, Dues registered 81 tackles, seven tackles for loss, one quarterback hurry, four interceptions, 25 pass breakups and one forced fumble, per MaxPreps.
