The Red Sox officially filled one of their three coaching vacancies Sunday morning by hiring from within.
As expected, Boston announced that Dillon Lawson, who spent last season as the team’s minor league hitting coordinator, has been promoted to the big league coaching staff as an assistant hitting coach. He replaces Luis Ortiz, who was let go shortly after the season. Lawson and Ben Rosenthal are the assistants to hitting coach Pete Fatse.
