Today is the first of three days devoted to the Gulf Coast Showcase for women’s basketball, and the first ranked team to play will be No.12 WVU women’s basketball when they take on High Point WBB.
Coming into this game and the showcase, the Mountaineers are undefeated on the season. They have blown through all of their six opponents at home so far this season.
Those beatdowns given to other teams proved good enough to make West Virginia the No. 12 ranked team in the country. This leaves the door open for a possible ranked contest with current No. 5 Texas, assuming both teams handle business in the first couple of games.
High Point WBB will look to get above .500 as it comes in with a 3-3 record after losing its last game against Wofford on Nov. 21.
That will be a difficult mission against a Mountaineer team that has been dominant this early in the season.
Mountaineers Head Into The Break Up 24 – Halftime
West Virginia 36, High Point 12
JJ Quinerly leads the way with 18 points as West Virginia enters the locker room, not allowing the Panthers to reach 20 points.

Quinerly has been feasting in the paint with a layup after layup and has eight points about midway through the first quarter.
West Virginia On The Board Early – 1Q 8:00
