West Orange High senior baseball player Keith Holden will play college ball right down the road, in Winter Park, after announcing his commitment to Rollins College.
“I am excited and blessed to announce that I will be furthering my athletic and academic career at Rollins College,” Holden wrote in an Instagram post. “I couldn’t thank my coaches and family enough for the opportunities and support they have provided to help me become the person and athlete I am today. (I’m) very excited for this next step in my journey.”
Despite seeing limited playing time for the Warriors in 2024 — only pitching 6.1 innings and making 16 plate appearances — the 6-foot, right-handed pitcher has shown massive improvement on the club circuit and is expected to be a big-time contributor for West Orange come the spring.
“I couldn’t be more proud of Keith Holden for committing to Rollins College,” West Orange baseball coach Mike Scudero wrote on X. “Keith has been a true example of what hard work and dedication can achieve, both on and off the field. Watching him grow as a player and person has been an absolute privilege, and I know he’s going to do amazing things at the next level. Rollins is not only getting a great pitcher but (it’s getting) an even better young man. Congratulations, Keith, this is just the beginning!”
With high-level talent throughout the roster, especially in the bullpen with three college-bound arms in Holden, Parker Hohnstock and Sims McClusky, the Warriors’ 2025 campaign is a highly-anticipated one; that is scheduled to open at home against Innovation High Tuesday, February 11.
