Ahamed Mohammed Listed on Bevo Francis Top 100 Watch List – West Texas A&M University Athletics

KANSAS CITY, MO.– West Texas A&M junior Ahamed Mohammed was named to the Top 100 Watch List for the 2024-2025 Bevo Francis Award presented to the top player in Small College Basketball, awarded by SmallCollegeBasketball.com. The honor is awarded to a deserving player whose university is affiliated within NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA Division I, NAIA Division II, USCAA and NCCAA.
 
Mohammed leads the Lone Star Conference in scoring at 18.7 points per game. He has scored in double figures in every game but one including a pair of 30-point performances. Mohammed also ranks in the top 25 in assists (38), field goals (95), field goal percentage (.408), three-point field goals (24), and rebounds per game (5.3). The junior guard is also one of the conference’s premier free throw leaders, ranking in the top five in both free throws and free throw percentage.
 
For his career, the Glendale, Ariz. native has appeared in 83 games with 51 starts having scored 821 points with 165 assists, 329 rebounds, 76 steals, and 10 blocks. Mohammed has collected Lone Star Conference Honorable Mention, All-Freshman, and Offensive Player of the Week honors while in Maroon & White.
 
WT returns to the friendly confines of the First United Bank Center on Thursday, Jan. 16 when the Buffs host Western New Mexico. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
 
About the Bevo Francis Award
The Clarence “Bevo” Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within Small College Basketball. Considerations will be season statistics and individual achievements, awards, personal character, and team achievements. This is an incredibly prestigious award, as this award will only be given to one player within Small College Basketball per season.
 
2025 marks the ninth year of the Bevo Francis Award. Past winners include Dominez Burnett of Davenport University in 2016, Justin Pitts of Northwest Missouri State University in 2017, Emanuel Terry of Lincoln Memorial University in 2018, Aston Francis of Wheaton College in 2019, Kyle Mangas of Indiana Wesleyan University in 2020, Trevor Hudgins of Northwest Missouri State University in 2022, RJ Sunahara of Nova Southeastern in 2023, and Elijah Malone of Grace College in 2024. The award was not presented during the 2021 season.
 
On February 15th, the list will be reduced to the Top 50 players. One month later on March 15th, the Top 25 players will be announced. The finalists for the Bevo Francis Award will be on April 5th with the winner announced on April 7th. More information will be available in the coming months.
