If Akron Zips football fans blink while watching the trailer for “College Football ’26,” EA Sports popular videogame, they may miss the appearance of the team’s symbol for turnovers.
What started in 2023 to celebrate a team member getting a fumble recovery or interception and being awarded a tire (what better in the Rubber City) turned into a viral moment that thrust the football program into the national spotlight.

Now that moment is honored in the trailer for “College Football 26,” the game resurrected in 2025 after much of the litigation surrounding “name, image and likeness” was dealt with. Last year, “College Football 25” sold 2.2 million copies.

EA Sports will hit store shelves and be available for download July 10.
