Alabama baseball vs. Miami live updates: Start time, TV channel for NCAA Regional

The final stretch on the road to Omaha is here for Alabama as the Crimson Tide begins its journey in the NCAA baseball tournament this weekend.

No. 3 seed Miami is first up for Alabama (41-16) as the No. 2 seed looks to advance to the winners bracket on Saturday against the winner of No. 16 overall seed Southern Miss vs. No. 4 seed Columbia, which will be played at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN+ following the conclusion of the Crimson Tide’s showdown against the Hurricanes.

Miami enters the game with a 31-24 record, looking to bounce back from 12-2 run-ruling by Cal, who sealed the Canes’ fate with a seven-run fourth inning to advance in its first ever ACC Tournament appearance last week. The Crimson Tide brings its first 40-plus win regular season since 2002, and a chip on its shoulder after being denied the national seed it felt it deserved.

With a line drive double to left centerfield, the star shortstop’s hit-streak climbed to eight games straight. However, that was the only hit Miami pitcher AJ Ciscar allowed as Kade Snell flied out to left field and Richie Bonomolo Jr. struck out, ending the first inning and leaving Lebron at third.

After a three-run blast that put Miami on the board, starting arm Riley Quick gave up a base-hit and his second walk of the inning. To get the Crimson Tide out of the top of the first without any extra damage, second baseman Brennen Norton turned a 4-3 double play to tag Renzo Gonzalez after Quick attempted to reach up and make a risky out with his bare hand.

Miami still put runners on the corners because Fowler wasn’t able to completely secure the ball after jumping up to rob a Hurricanes home run in right field, but he couldn’t do it twice. Daniel Cuvet, Justin Lebron’s childhood teammate back in Florida, approached the plate and crushed a three-run homer right over Fowler’s head on a slider by Quick, putting Miami up 3-0 with two outs to go in the top of the first.

After a brief weather delay due to rain in the area, Alabama baseball and Miami are set to begin at approximately 2:45 p.m. CT on ESPN2.

Here’s a look at Miami’s lineup for Friday.

“I mean, they’re there for a reason and so is every other team in all these regionals, so you’ve got to treat them for who they are,” said outfielder Max Galvin. “Alabama’s a really good team. Southern Miss is a really good team … Columbia won the Ivy League. So, every team that we play from now on is going to be hot and they’re a good team and we need to come prepared every single day.”

When they meet Friday afternoon at Pete Taylor Park, Alabama and Miami will face each other for the 16th time in series history − and the first time since a 1999 showdown in the College World Series. The Crimson Tide leads the series 8-7 overall and holds a 2-0 advantage in Regional matchups.
