Alabama learns spot in first weekly College Football Playoff rankings

The College Football Playoff selection committee on Tuesday evening released its first weekly rankings that will lead up to the final selections for the first 12-team playoff on December 9.

Alabama was ranked No. 11. Alabama was also ranked No. 11 in both the Associated Press and coaches polls Sunday. The Tide plays LSU, which earned the No. 15 ranking from the CFP committee, on Saturday night in Baton Rouge.

If the 12-team playoff was seeded now, the Tide would earn the No. 11 seed and play at No. 6 seed Texas in a first-round game.
