
Two players from Alabama considered potential first-round picks in the 2025 Major League Baseball draft are participating in the MLB Draft Combine this week.
MLB.com’s draft-prospect rankings have Hewitt-Trussville High School shortstop Steele Hall rated as the 13th-best prospect and Alabama pitcher Riley Quick at No. 35. Quick also is an alumnus of Hewitt-Trussville.
The MLB Draft Combine is being held from Tuesday through Saturday at Chase Field in Phoenix. The combine has gathered 322 draft-eligible prospects, who are participating in on-the-field, medical and performance assessments.
Other players from Alabama high schools and colleges at the combine include:
- Alabama pitcher Zane Adams
- Troy catcher Brooks Bryan (Opelika High School)
- Alabama State first baseman Juan Cruz
- Georgia pitcher Alton Davis (Hueytown High School)
- Thompson High School pitcher Ma’Kale Holden
- Dallas Baptist catcher Grant Jay (Mobile Christian School)
- Mississippi State pitcher Pico Kohn (Chilton County High School)
- Auburn pitcher Cam Tilly
Jay and Bryan also are included among the 200 players in MLB.com’s draft-prospect rankings, with Jay at No. 165 and Bryan at No. 179.
The 2025 MLB draft will be held July 13-14 in Atlanta. Formally known as the MLB First-Year Player Draft or the Rule 4 Draft, the event will feature 615 selections across 20 rounds. The Washington Nationals hold the No. 1 pick.
