Alabama QB Jalen Milroe will enter 2025 NFL Draft

A new starting quarterback will lead Alabama football next season. Jalen Milroe, who started for the Crimson Tide for the past two seasons, announced his plans to enter the NFL Draft on Thursday.

He announced the news with a statement on social media.

“Football has always been my passion, and since I was a kid, I dreamed of competing at the highest level,” Milroe said the announcement. Through every win, every tough loss, and any criticism along the way, my love and dedication to this game has never wavered. Every day, my gratitude for the opportunity to play this sport I love only grows stronger. With that said, I am declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft.”

Milroe joined the Crimson Tide in the 2021 recruiting class. He beat out Ty Simpson and Tyler Buchner for the starting job before the 2023 campaign, and other than one game that year, started ever since.

He was a captain for two seasons in Tuscaloosa.

His final game came Tuesday, in the ReliaQuest Bowl, a game the Crimson Tide lost to Michigan. Milroe struggled early in the defeat, taking a fourth down sack, fumbling twice and throwing an interception on UA’s first four drives.

Milroe finished the year with 205 completions on 319 passes. He threw for 2,844 yards, with 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

He also was a major contributor on the ground, rushing for 726 yards and 20 touchdowns.

The 2025 NFL Draft is scheduled to begin April 25.
