AP college football poll (Nov. 3): SMU receives highest ranking since 1985; Texas in top 5

As SMU works its magic, the Mustangs continue to turn heads in the college football world.

After cruising past Pitt in a highly-anticipated ACC showdown, SMU has jumped seven spots in the latest AP college football poll. SMU is now the second-highest ranked team in the state, leaping over Texas A&M after the Aggies stumbled against South Carolina on Saturday night.

SMU’s No. 13 ranking is its highest since 1985 before the Death Penalty.

On a bye week, Texas finds itself in the top five.
