The wait is over for Arizona State baseball, and the season continues.

After missing a program-record three consecutive NCAA baseball tournament appearances, the Sun Devils (35-22, 18-12 in Big 12) are back in the tournament.

They will be joined by the University of Arizona.

The Sun Devils found out that they’ll be headed to Los Angeles to play May 30, against UC Irvine (41-15) in the first round of the four-team, double-elimination regional.

What time is ASU baseball playing in the NCAA Tournament?

ASU plays at 6 p.m. MST (9 p.m. Eastern) on May 30 on ESPNU, the second of two games at the Los Angeles Regional.

UCLA, the No. 15 overall seed, takes on Fresno State in the first game, scheduled for 1 p.m. MST.

The No. 5 seed ASU was stunned by No. 12 seed BYU on the first day of the Big 12 Baseball Tournament, losing 2-0.

However, the season is not done.

This year’s tournament appearance marks the first in head coach Willie Bloomquist’s four-year tenure. Given ASU’s rich history in baseball, Bloomquist will likely be observed closely during the NCAA tournament.

The loss in the Big 12 tourney and Oklahoma State sweeping ASU to finish the regular season nearly cost ASU a chance for the tournament.

The team did win 18 conference games this season, continuing an upward trend that saw the Sun Devils win 16 Pac-12 games in 2023 and 17 the following season.

ASU is among only 16 Power Four schools with 50+ conference wins combined over the past three seasons (51). The team is one of just seven Power Four programs with 16+ conference wins in each of the past three seasons.

Big 12 champion Arizona returns to the tournament

The Arizona Wildcats solidified a fifth consecutive NCAA baseball tourney appearance after winning the Big 12 Championship on May 24.

No. 4 seed Arizona stunned No. 3 seed TCU with a late rally to win 2-1 and claim the first Big 12 title in program history.

Arizona will be headed to Eugene on May 30 to face Cal Poly (41-17) in the first round of the four-team, double-elimination regional hosted by the Oregon Ducks.

What time are Arizona Wildcats playing in the NCAA Tournament?

The Wildcats play at 1 p.m. MST (4 p.m. Eastern) on ESPN+ in the first of two games, with the No. 12 overall seed, Oregon, taking on Utah Valley in the nightcap at 6 p.m. MST.

The Wildcats will hope for better results this season after going 0-2 in their host regional last year.
