The Sun Devils moved up to No. 9 in ESPN’s latest Top 25 college football rankings, climbing one spot from their previous No. 10 position. The jump comes as head coach Kenny Dillingham continues to bolster the program with a standout 2026 recruiting class that is earning national recognition.
Arizona State’s recruiting success is reinforcing the momentum Dillingham has generated since taking over in 2022, led by two ESPN 300 commits, quarterback Jake Fette and defensive lineman Julian Hugo.
Fette, a four-star dual-threat quarterback out of Texas, is widely regarded as one of the Sun Devils’ top offensive commits. He is expected to follow in the footsteps of current starter Sam Leavitt as the dynamic signal-caller in Dillingham’s high-tempo offense.
On the other side of the ball, Hugo provides powerful presence on the defensive front. The athletic lineman brings versatility, a staple point for ASU, and offers the potential to be an impact player for the following years.
Other notable members of the 2026 class include tight end Hayden Vercher, who totaled over 1,000 yards in the 2024 season, and wide receiver Nalin Scott, another promising addition adding size and length to the Sun Devils’ future receiving corps.
Arizona State is going into their second season in the Big 12 with power and momentum. Dillingham’s staff has rebuilt the roster through a mix of portal pickups and high school recruits, earning praise for player development and long-term vision.
With a top-10 recruiting class and a fast-developing core, Arizona State is becoming one of the most intriguing programs in the country — and showing no signs of slowing down.
