Arkansas baseball to host NCAA Regional at Baum-Walker Stadium: Schedule, tickets

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas baseball is back hosting an NCAA Tournament regional.

The Razorbacks were announced as one of 16 NCAA Tournament regional hosts Sunday by the NCAA. It is the seventh time in the past eight seasons the Hogs are regional hosts and the 12th time overall. Arkansas’ national seed and the entire bracket will be released at 11 a.m. CT Monday on ESPN2.

Arkansas is expected to be a national top-eight seed in the NCAA Tournament for a third straight season.

How Arkansas baseball has fared as a regional host

The Razorbacks have advanced out of a home regional five of the 11 times they’ve hosted. They have failed to win the Fayetteville Regional in each of their past two seasons.

Last year, Arkansas was the No. 5 overall seed. The Hogs won the regional opener before falling to Kansas State in the winner’s bracket and losing to Southeast Missouri State in an elimination game.

How Arkansas baseball earned a national seed

Arkansas was No. 5 in the RPI entering Sunday. It spent the entire year ranked inside of the top five of the USA TODAY Coaches Poll and finished in second place in the SEC standings.

The Hogs have played the No. 14 strength schedule in the country. They are is 14-10 against Quad 1 opponents, 2-2 against Quad 2 teams, 6-0 against Quad 3 teams and 21-1 vs. Quad 4 teams. Arkansas dropped two spots in the RPI after losing to Ole Miss on Friday.
