Arkansas basketball forward drawing Draymond Green comparison makes NBA Draft decision

The Arkansas Razorbacks are aiming for a strong season under second-year head coach John Calipari. Calipari led the Razorbacks to the Sweet Sixteen last season and came close to an Elite Eight appearance, if not for a late-game collapse against Texas Tech.

Arkansas has done well in restocking its roster and retaining key pieces that should benefit the team next season. However, they also lost several players to the transfer portal. The most notable departure is Boogie Fland, who transferred to the Florida Gators after withdrawing from the NBA Draft process earlier than expected.

Fland was expected to be the starting point guard for Calipari this season, but an injury sidelined him late in the year. Adou Thiero stepped in to fill the void and played a key role down the stretch.

On Wednesday, Thiero announced that he will keep his name in the NBA Draft, meaning he won’t return to Arkansas for his senior season. Known for his defense, Thiero has drawn comparisons to some of the league’s best.

“His ability to defend multiple positions and contribute on both ends of the floor has made him a compelling NBA prospect, drawing comparisons to established pros like Draymond Green,” Andy Hodges wrote.

Thiero is projected as a first-round pick by some outlets, which ultimately influenced his decision to remain in the draft and forgo another year in Fayetteville.

“Most mock drafts have Thiero being drafted either late in the first round or early in the second round. As of Tuesday, No Ceilings’ mock had him at No. 23,” Daniel Fair wrote.

Thiero is now set to chase his dream and carve out a name for himself at the next level. Being compared to a four-time NBA champion is certainly a promising sign as he heads into the league.
