Arkansas football spring 2025 transfer portal tracker

FAYETTEVILLE — The spring NCAA transfer portal window for college football opened April 16, and players will have until April 25th to enter.

Arkansas is seeking additions primarily on defense, and coach Sam Pittman said before the portal opened he expects some players lower on the Razorbacks’ depth chart to depart.

Track who is coming and going via the transfer portal:

INCOMING TRANSFERS (6)

WR Andy Jean (signed April 27)

Old school: Pittsburgh

Jean played the past two seasons at Florida before transferring to Pitt. He reentered the transfer portal in the spring and committed to Arkansas after visiting April 26-27. Jean, 6-1 and 184 pounds, appeared in 4 games as a freshman in 2023 and recorded 6 catches for 97 yards with the Gators. He played in 1 game in 2024 and had no stats. Jean, a Miami native, was a 4-star recruit by On3 and Rivals as a high school senior in 2023.

QB Trever Jackson (signed April 24)

Old school: Florida State

Jackson was a former 4-star recruit by Rivals, and a 3-star by ESPN and 247Sports. He logged two snaps in Florida State’s in 41-7 victory over Charleston Southern as a freshman in 2024. He served as the Seminoles’ scout team quarterback while redshirting.

DE Phillip Lee (signed April 19)

Old school: Troy

Lee transferred after 3 seasons at Troy. The 6-4, 240-pound edge rusher started 10 of 12 games as a junior last year and recorded 31 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 1 pass breakup.

DB Shakur Smalls (signed April 19)

Old school: Maine

Smalls transferred to Arkansas from Maine, where he recorded 164 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 4 interceptions and 20 pass breakups in 38 games for the Black Bears. The 6-0, 205-pound defensive back has one year of eligibility remaining.

DB Julian Neal (signed April 19)

Old school: Stanford

Neal, a 6-2, 200-pound Stanford transfer, entered the portal after the Cardinal fired coach Troy Taylor. He was only at Stanford for the spring, transferring there from Fresno State. Neal started 4 of 12 games he played in last year with the Bulldogs and recorded 35 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 2 interceptions and 6 pass breakups. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

LB Trent Whalen (signed April 18)

Old school: Kent State

Whalen comes to Arkansas from Kent State, where he spent spring after transferring from Southern Utah. The 6-3, 235-pound graduate transfer played in 32 games in five seasons with the Thunderbirds. In 2024, he had 36 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss in 9 games.

OUTGOING TRANSFERS (7)

DB Christian Ford (entered April 25)

Ford, 6-0 and 176 pounds, redshirted his first season and did not see any action as a redshirt freshman in 2024. The McKinney, Texas, native was a consensus 3-star prospect in the class of 2023.

RB Tyrell Reed (entered April 25)

Reed spent one season at Arkansas after transferring from Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College last spring. He appeared in three games for the Razorbacks with 36 yards and 1 touchdown on 6 carries. He had 1 reception, a 47-yard touchdown in the Liberty Bowl against Texas Tech.

QB Blake Boda (entered April 24)

Boda transferred to Arkansas after spring practices last year, joining the Razorbacks after one season at Coastal Carolina. He played in three games for the Chanticleers and none at Arkansas. A native of Florida, Boda was a 3-star recruit in the class of 2023, per 247Sports.

WR Shamar Easter (entered April 23)

Ashdown native Easter was a 4-star prospect in the class of 2023 and the No. 2 player in the state of Arkansas that year, per 247Sports. He came to the Razorbacks as a tight end but moved to receiver during practices leading up to the Liberty Bowl last season. Easter, 6-5 and 223 pounds, appeared in two games as a redshirt freshman last season. 

RB JuJu Pope (entered April 23)

Pope was a 4-star recruit in the class of 2024 and the No. 41 linebacker in the class, per 247Sports Composite. He moved to running back at Arkansas and did not appear in any games while redshirting his first season. Pope, 6-0 and 216 pounds, is from Pope, Miss.

OL Zuri Madison (entered April 22)

Madison, 6-3 and 305 pounds, redshirted his freshman season after tearing his ACL during a spring 2024 scooter accident. He was a consensus 3-star prospect out of Frederick Douglass High School in Lexington, Ky.

QB Madden Iamaleava (entered April 22)

New school: UCLA

A freshman early enrollee, Iamaleava flipped to Arkansas from UCLA on signing day in December and went through spring practices with the Razorbacks. His transfer to join the Bruins came days after his older brother, Nico Iamaleava, committed to transfer to UCLA from Tennessee.

ATH Quentin Murphy (entered April 16)

Murphy, a true freshman out of Little Rock Parkview, enrolled early at Arkansas and went through spring practices before entering the portal. A former 3-star prospect, he was rated the No. 7 player in Arkansas in the class of 2025, per 247Sports Composite.
