Arkansas moves to No. 1 in Week 8 college baseball Power 10 rankings

A ton of shakeups in Week 8 of college baseball brought a new No. 1 squad, and saw multiple teams fall in the latest Power 10.

1. Arkansas (Prev. 3)

Arkansas takes over the top spot in the Power 10 this week. The Razorbacks moved to 30-3 on the year and swept Missouri for their third-straight SEC series sweep. The offense put up a 51-run weekend in only 18 innings of offense against Missouri, which is a program record. Cam Kozeal had 14 RBI on the week. The Razorbacks are absolutely rolling with an 11-game SEC win streak and are the top team in the country.

2. Texas (Prev. 5)

Texas moves up to No. 2 after not just winning the series, but also sweeping a top-three team in Georgia. Rylan Galvan launched a walk-off homer in the bottom of the 10th to secure the sweep in the finale.

3. LSU (Prev. 6)

LSU moves back into the top three with a big top-10 sweep over Oklahoma. The Tigers’ 30-3 mark through 33 games is LSU’s best record since 2013.

4. Tennessee (Prev. 1)

Tennessee drops from No. 1 to 4 with the series loss to Texas A&M, at home. Yes, Texas A&M is unranked. Yet they’re still a preseason No. 1 team with a lot of talent — not to mention a rematch of the CWS finals last year, too. They won 10-0 in Game 1 of the series, so I’m dropping the Vols just three spots for now as they move to 28-4 on the season.

5. Clemson (Prev. 7)

Clemson moves up into the top five again. The Tigers swept California last weekend with an impressive run-rule win on Saturday. Now, they’re 30-5 on the season.

6. Georgia (Prev. 2)

Georgia drops to No. 6 after getting swept by Texas, now the No. 2 team. The Bulldogs hung in there on Sunday until the walk-off in extras. The Dawgs have another tough series this week with Arkansas so I am intrigued by that. But at 29-5, I am not dropping them much further just yet.

7. Ole Miss (Prev. 10)

Ole Miss is at No. 7 with a 24-7 record on the year. Rebels won the series over Kentucky last weekend.

8. Florida State (Prev. 4)

Florida State drops to No. 8 after losing the series to Wake Forest and moving to 25-6 on the season. Georgia, Ole Miss and FSU ordering was tough — but FSU’s series loss was to an unranked team.

9. Oregon State (Prev. NR)

Finally, I have two new teams in the Power 10. Oregon State is back in after winning the series over a top-15 team in UC Irvine. The Beavers responded in a big way after losing Game 1, 12-0, then won the next two.

10. UCLA (Prev. NR)

And for the 10th team, welcome UCLA to the Power 10. The Bruins have been turning heads this season as they continue to ride a winning streak. Now at 25-6 on the season — and with Alabama and Oklahoma dropping out — it was the perfect time for the Bruins to make their way in. Watch out for their stars Roch Cholowsky and Mulivai Levu, who have all been big-time for UCLA this season.
