
The college basketball transfer portal closed on Tuesday night at 11:59 PM. Nearly 2,500 players hit portal, and while there are still many players who have decisions to make, the dust is starting to settle. On Wednesday, 247Sports released its ranking of the top 150 players in the 2025 transfer portal.
There is still time for things to change, but a few days after the portal’s close, it is becoming easier and easier to see which programs the portal has treated well and which have been treated more cruelly.

Fresh off of their Big East title, St. John’s is now in the top spot of the transfer portal rankings and are one of the clear winners thus far. Rick Pitino’s program has added an NBA-level talent and five-star prospect in North Carolina transfer Ian Jackson.
The Red Storm surrounded the explosive guard with some serious complementary talent as well. Stanford transfer Oziyah Sellers is one of the best deep shooters in this year’s portal class, while Arizona State transfer Joson Sanon is another wing scorer who can get hot in a hurry. In the frontcourt, St. John’s added Providence forward Bryce Hopkins, a guy who could compete for Big East Player of the Year. They’ve rounded out their class with high-flying forward Dillon Mitchell from Cincinnati and Idaho State point guard Dylan Darling who can help ease Jackson’s transition into the role of primary ball handler.
