Baseball America released its preseason Top 25 on Monday morning, with the SEC boasting 5 of the top 10 teams, including the top 4 headlined by No. 1 Texas A&M.
The Aggies have a first-year manager in Michael Earley, who has kept the Aggies’ core largely intact from last year’s team that reached the College World Series final. Texas A&M lost to Tennessee in the CWS final in 2024, so the Aggies will have the motivation to take that last step, and Baseball America believes they have the goods to do just that.
Speaking of Tennessee, the Volunteers are preseason No. 3, just behind No. 2 LSU, after winning the first CWS title in program history last year. Arkansas was slotted at No. 4 to complete the SEC dominance at the top of the preseason poll.
Virginia and Florida State were ranked No. 5 and 6, respectively, and then it was back to the SEC with Florida at No. 7. Clemson, Oregon State and Duke filled out the preseason Top 10, in that order.
The SEC roll call continued with Georgia at No. 11, followed by North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Texas and Vanderbilt, so 8 of the top 15 teams in the poll were from the SEC. Mississippi State came in at No. 18, and Kentucky closed out the SEC-dominated preseason poll at No. 20.
The opening night of the 2025 college baseball season is Feb. 14, and top-ranked Texas A&M will look to get rolling right away when it faces Elon.
