Field of 64 projections are to the NCAA baseball tournament what bracketology is to March Madness in college basketball. College baseball fans all across the country are starting to take a glance at where their team is at and if it has a chance to make a run to Omaha.

With the latest Baseball America projections out, it is the SEC that is looking like it could be in line for a historic amount of teams.

Right now, Baseball America has a projected 12 teams making the NCAA Tournament, which would be a NCAA record. The conference actually broke the record last season, when it had 11 teams make it.

Of the 12 teams making the tournament, 8 of them would be Regional hosts. Texas (projected No. 1 overall seed), Tennessee, Georgia, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Auburn and LSU are currently projected in the top 16 national seeds. Baseball America’s projections also have Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Alabama and Texas A&M making the field. The Wildcats are considered one of the Last Four In, while Mississippi State is in the First Four Out group.

This record would continue an impressive run for the SEC, as the conference recently set a record with 14 basketball teams in the Big Dance.
