
STARKVILLE – The University of South Carolina baseball team dropped a 6-0 decision to Mississippi State Sunday afternoon (April 6) in the rubber match of a three-game set at Dudy Noble Field.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when Mississippi State scored five runs on six hits. Noah Sullivan homered to open the frame and Gatlin Sanders and Dylan Cupp had run-scoring singles.
Mississippi State added a run in the sixth on a Bryce Chance RBI double.
The loss went to Brandon Stone, who allowed five runs on eight hits in 3.1 innings. Matthew Becker pitched 4.2 innings and struck out seven, allowing just three hits and a run with no walks.
Carolina had just two hits in the game, a leadoff single from Nathan Hall in the first inning and a single in the ninth from Blake Jackson. The MSU duo of Karson Ligon and Stone Simmons struck out 13 batters in the contest.
POSTGAME NOTES
- Becker now has 245 career strikeouts at Carolina in 173 innings.
- Hall reached base all three games this weekend.
