COL. DWYER TALKS TO THE TEAM

Col. Kenneth Dwyer, an Infantry Officer with the U.S. Army, spoke to the team last week about his journey in the military.

“Our team was so privileged to hear one of the most powerful talks any of us have ever heard from a truly remarkable individual in Colonel Kenneth Dwyer of the United States Army,” head coach Paul Mainieri said. “First, he told us about his personal story describing how he incurred his injuries during combat in Afghanistan, then went through a lengthy and painful rehabilitation while never giving up and finally returning to active duty – including jumping out of airplanes and back to combat with just one arm and one eye. Colonel Dwyer then gave to our team the most positive message about living life to its’ fullest, having purpose, and working as a team. His courage and perspective are qualities that he demonstrated, and our players will never forget the message he shared.

“I constantly tell our team that we live in the greatest country in the world only because there are people like Colonel Dwyer that are willing to sacrifice everything to insure our freedom. We owe so much gratitude to the members of all branches of the military who provide us the opportunity to do things such as play college baseball. For our players to meet up close one of those that are “the best of the best” was an experience that they will most definitely cherish.”
