LAKE CHARLES – McNeese Baseball rolled out its schedule Tuesday morning for the 2025 campaign, opening the season at home against Wichita State at Joe Miller Ballpark a season removed from making the Southland Conference Championship Game.
McNeese hosts two home non-conference series at The Jeaux against Wichita State (Feb. 14-16) and Oakland (Feb. 21-23) before entering conference play early in the season against Nicholls on the last day of February. By hosting Oakland, it will be the first time either program will meet as the Golden Grizzlies come to Louisiana. The Shockers last visited Lake Charles in 2018 for opening weekend.
The conference slate will feature two more opponents than a season ago with the Cowboys traveling to take on UTRGV for the first time since 2007 and as conference opponents, later hosting Stephen F. Austin who rejoined the Southland over the summer. The Lumberjacks and Pokes last met in 2022 with their last conference meeting occurring in 2021.
McNeese holds a full slate of non-conference opponents featuring Texas A&M, UL-Lafayette, Dillard, Mississippi Valley State, Southern, Alcorn, LSU, Louisiana Christian, and Houston. Dillard is another program that the Pokes will meet for the first time in program history.
Four of the Cowboys’ opponents made the NCAA Regionals last season in LSU, Nicholls, UL-Lafayette, and Texas A&M who made a run all the way to the College World Series Championship Series against Tennessee.
The Southland Conference Tournament is reverting back to its 2023 format where the two highest seeded teams will host the opening round of the tournament with the highest remaining seed hosting the championship series.
Season tickets are slated to go on sale December 4 with renewals with single game tickets going on sale closer to the season.
