BIRMINGHAM – University of South Carolina junior outfielder/infielder Ethan Petry has been named to the Preseason All-SEC first team, the conference office announced this morning (Wednesday, Feb. 5). The teams were voted on by the league’s 16 head coaches.
This is the second straight year that Petry has earned a Preseason All-SEC honor. He comes into his junior season with a .341 career average to go along with 18 doubles, a triple, 44 home runs (tied for fifth in Carolina history) and 128 RBI in his two years as a Gamecock. Last season, Petry played in 61 games with eight doubles, a triple, 21 home runs and 53 RBI while being named to the NCAA All-Raleigh Regional team and the CSC Academic All-District team.
Petry was named a Second Team Preseason All-American by both Perfect Game and D1 Baseball.
Carolina will open the 2025 season on Friday, Feb. 14 with a 4 p.m. game against Sacred Heart at Founders Park.
