Benjamin signs with Walsh University baseball

Owensboro’s Brady Benjamin has signed with Walsh University to continue his baseball and academic career. A member of the team since he was in eighth grade, Benjamin helped lead the Red Devils to a 9th District Championship in 2022.

Since first stepping on campus for his visit, Benjamin knew Walsh was where his future lay.

“The first time I went there I absolutely loved it,” Benjamin said. “The coaches are awesome, and they set a very strong impression at the start. They play at a really high level for Division II and I am excited to go get out there and get to work.”

To make his dream of playing at the collegiate level a reality, he played travel ball and continuously reached out to schools. He heard back from colleges in Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana, but Walsh stood out the most.

“All it takes is the one school that you like and that is what I got,” Benjamin said.

A former golf player, Benjamin said baseball was always the dream, having fallen in love with the sport at a young age. To get to the next level, he started to essentially live in the weight room and batting cage, growing stronger over time.

“It definitely wasn’t easy, but I don’t think I would trade a single second of the work for anything in the world, Benjamin said. “A lot of it was getting stronger over time, but with my mental state, I had to commit to what I was doing in the cage. That allowed me to get better day by day and eventually, that was how I got to where I am. Focusing on hitting barrels and staying in the middle of the field — that is all I can do.”

Once he gets to college, Benjamin plans to make an instant impact, be ready to start from day one, and help his future team bring home a championship.
