
ABILENE, Texas — As college baseball season winds down, the All-Conference selections are coming in for the Big Country’s universities.
Let’s take a look at some of Abilene’s college baseball stars:
Abilene Christian University
The Wildcats had three All-WAC selections this season. Starting pitcher Dominick Reed and shortstop Zandt Payne were named First Team All-Conference.
ACU added one selection, outfielder Braden Regala, to the WAC’s All-Defensive team.
Hardin-Simmons University
The Cowboys had six players named to the American Southwest Conference teams, including outfielder Baylan Vaughan and second baseman Quincy McGraw.
Vaughan and McGraw were both named ASC First Team selections.
Third baseman Jacob Hollingsworth and pitcher Jack Kimsey were also named All-ASC selections.
McMurry University
The War Hawks had 10 all-conference selections, including SCAC Freshman of the Year Collin Bruning and Offensive Player of the Year, catcher Michael Smosna.
Bruning has hit .382 so far this season, adding six home runs and 48 runs batted in.
Meanwhile, Smosna has tallied a tremendous .439 batting average, adding 8 home runs and 57 runs batted in.
