The X’s and O’s weren’t just limited to football on Tuesday when Bill Belichick spoke to ESPN at the ACC Spring Meetings, as his relationship with 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson continues to dominate headlines.
The new UNC football coach, 73, briefly touched upon his relationship with Hudson, a former college cheerleader, during a discussion about the upcoming season, his first coaching at the collegiate level.
“That’s really off to the side, it’s a personal relationship. She doesn’t have anything to do with UNC football,” Belichick said when asked about Hudson, adding he’s “excited” to be back in coaches meetings.
Belichick, who parted ways with the Patriots last January after 24 seasons and six Super Bowl wins, has been at the center of controversy in recent weeks following a disastrous appearance on CBS last month to promote his new book, “The Art of Winning.”
When the interview pivoted to Belichick’s relationship with Hudson, she shut down the question.
“We’re not talking about this,” Hudson told Tony Dokoupil.
The Miss Maine USA contestant first crossed paths with Belichick on a plane in 2021 — three years before the pair went public with their romance.
Since Belichick was named coach of the Tar Heels last December, Hudson has been a presence in Chapel Hill and was even filmed on the field during a spring practice.
Rumors have recently surfaced that she’s been barred from UNC facilities, a claim the university disputed in a statement to The Post last week.
“While Jordon Hudson is not an employee at the University or Carolina Athletics, she is welcome to the Carolina Football facilities. Jordon will continue to manage all activities related to Coach Belichick’s personal brand outside of his responsibilities for Carolina Football and the University,” the statement read.
On Friday, former ESPN personality Pablo Torre alleged on his “Pablo Torre Finds Out” program that there is “deep worry” from Belichick’s family over how Hudson is impacting his legacy.
There is deep worry for how detrimental Jordon can be for not just North Carolina but Bill’s legacy, reputation — everything he has built and worked for over decades,” a Belichick family source told Torre.
Belichick signed a five-year, $50 million contract with the Tar Heels earlier this year.
Amid the recent scrutiny surrounding the relationship, chatter has pivoted to Belichick’s buyout clause with UNC, which drops from $10 million to $1 million on June 1.
UNC has not won a championship since 1980.
