BOISE, Idaho — Boise State men’s basketball looks to extend its season and secure another payday Saturday morning as it squares off with Nebraska in the College Basketball Crown.
The tournament in Las Vegas shifts from the MGM Grand Garden Arena to T-Mobile Arena for the semifinals and Sunday’s championship game. The Broncos (26-10) are averaging 94.5 points across two wins over Butler and George Washington.
Boise State battles Nebraska at 11:30 a.m. MT Saturday on FOX. The winner is guaranteed at least $100,000 in name, image and likeness money, while semifinal losers receive $50,000 apiece.
The opposite side of the College Basketball Crown bracket features Central Florida and Villanova, who meet at 2 p.m. MT Saturday. The four squads seek an additional $300,000 that goes to the tournament champion.
Senior forward Tyson Degenhart continues to widen his advantage as Boise State’s all-time scoring leader. In the 100-93 quarterfinals victory over Butler, he became the ninth player in Mountain West history to surpass 2,000 career points.
Nebraska (19-14) opened the Crown with an 86-78 win over Arizona State on March 21. Senior guard Brice Williams scored a game-high 30 points, adding 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
The Cornhuskers punched their ticket to the semifinals by beating Georgetown 81-69 on Wednesday, April 2. Senior forward Juwan Gary posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 boards, while Williams led the way again with 28 points.
A win Saturday morning moves head coach Leon Rice’s squad into a tie for the all-time program record of 27 single-season wins, set by the 2021-22 team.
