Bowl projections: Where will Colorado State football play if Rams become bowl eligible?

A bowl game should be on the agenda.

The Colorado State football team hasn’t yet reached bowl eligibility for the 2024 season, but the Rams (5-3) are a win away from it with four to go.

Three of CSU’s final four opponents have losing records. The Rams not only should reach bowl eligibility, but a scheduling gift from the Mountain West makes a conference title game bid a real possibility.

Let’s look at the bowls. Here are national projections following Week 9 of college football for where the Rams may play in the postseason:

Hawaii Bowl

Christmas in Hawaii? The Hawaii Bowl is a popular pick right now. The game is Dec. 24 in Honolulu.

Brett McMurphy of the Action Network has the Rams set to play Tulane, with the Green Wave an 11-point favorite.

ESPN bowl prognosticators Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach have CSU in the Hawaii Bowl, and both have CSU set to face Western Kentucky.

Idaho Potato Bowl

Back to the Blue? The Idaho Potato Bowl is Dec. 23 in Boise.

Jerry Palm of CBS Sports has CSU facing Ohio on the blue turf.

Steven Lassan of Athlon Sports also has CSU in Boise, with the Rams set to play Western Michigan.

CSU played in the 2016 Potato Bowl, a 61-50 loss to Idaho.

New Mexico Bowl

The New Mexico Bowl in Albuquerque is Dec. 28.

College Football News projects the Rams to face Texas State in what would be CSU’s fourth New Mexico Bowl appearance.

First Responder Bowl

Brad Crawford of 247Sports projects the Rams to face Toledo in the First Responder Bowl, which is Jan. 3 in Dallas.
