The Atlanta Braves are trying to make their team better and they are not waiting around. Just a day after the World Series finished, they made a move with the Los Angeles Angels.
They traded outfielder Jorge Soler for pitcher Griffin Canning, according to multiple sources. It should be noted that Soler is heading into the second year of the three-year, $42 million contract he signed with the San Francisco Giants for 2024.

After the deal, the Giants traded him to the Atlanta Braves at the trade deadline of the season. The deal takes place in order to make room for more moves for Atlanta so everyone should expect more soon.
The reason behind the move
Many expected that the Atlanta Braves would trade Jorge Soler before opening day of the 2025 season, as they hope to have Ronald Acuña Jr back for the start of the next baseball year.
However, they plan to exercise the option of one more year of the contract Dominican player Marcell Ozuna, which would create a solid core and not much help would be needed with money in place to do so.
With Ozuna in the lineup, it is more than obvious that Jorge Soler, who lacks good defense in the outfield and his best role at the moment would be designated hitter, does not have a space on the team’s roster.
