Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks got some massive news on the recruiting front over the weekend, with 5-star edge rusher Richard Wesley announcing his verbal commitment on Saturday night.
Wesley is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 20 player in the 2026 class, and the No. 3 EDGE in the nation. He chose the Ducks over the likes of Ohio State, Texas, Texas A&M, and USC. Originally a member of the 2027 class, Wesley reclassified to 2026 and is among the top players in the class.
The Ducks picked up a prediction to land a commitment from Wesley earlier this spring, so his commitment does not come as a huge surprise.
Wesley was in Eugene last month for the annual spring game and got to see what the Ducks’ atmosphere was like for a game day. It also didn’t hurt to be on campus when a program-record 10 players were selected in the 2025 NFL draft.
Before Wesley’s commitment, Oregon had the No. 22 class in the 2026 cycle, but they moved up to No. 14 with his addition.
