“But he was willing to give Caitlin a spot” fans erupt over Ice Cube’s bold invite to Bronny James for Big3

LA Lakers rookie Bronny James has received an invite from Ice Cube to join his league, “Big3.” The legendary West Coast rapper made this offer when he appeared on an episode of “Real 92.3 LA’s The Cruz Show” on Friday.

The former USC Trojans guard has had a tough start to his NBA career. And Ice Cube said his offer to Bronny is just in case his career in the pro league “doesn’t work out.”

“He can always come out and try to make a team. We can’t give him a space, but he can get drafted and earn a space,” the ‘It Was A Good Day’ rapper said.

However, fans on social media weren’t all excited about the terms at which the offer was extended to the rookie. One fan on X compared the previous offer he made to then-WNBA rookie Caitlin Clark.

“So he gotta make the team but he was just willing to give Caitlin a spot nobody playing in the big 3,” the fan wrote.

While most fans came to the side of Bronny, others weren’t too enthusiastic as they made their thoughts known.

“Take the offer,” one fan account wrote.

“Ice Cube taking any opportunity. Gotta respect it,” another fan added.

“So he can average 4PPG there too lol,” another fan posted.

“Because of his name. Lol,” another user claimed.

“Bronny would cook them,” a fan added.

Bronny James has appeared in a few NBA games since making his historic debut with his father, LeBron James. His time has been spent mostly in the G League, with averages of 5.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.

Ice Cube opens up on why the league is yet to accept the Big3

Ice Cube’s Big3 vision has faced resistance since its launch in 2017. He was on the “Bootleg Kev Podcast,” where he talked about why the NBA has apparently failed to embrace the 3×3 league.

“I know what it is … they’re mad they didn’t think of this [expletive], and they don’t want somebody like me running something like this when they believe they own basketball, but they don’t,” the rapper said. “They own a lot of cool stuff, but they don’t own basketball.”

Ice Cube, during the interview, said the organization was created to provide a platform for retired players and legends. He added that the Big3 has no plans of competing with the NBA but rather wants to coexist alongside it.
