Ohio State has found the defensive coordinator, and it is former Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia, longtime uh Bill Belichick disciple.

So Matt Patricia needed a job and he’s gonna go to replace Jim Knowles at Ohio State.

Thoughts, Ross.

Yeah, yeah, big, uh big hire.

Another NFL guy, right, coming to, uh, coming to college football.

I think that Ohio State, uh, commands the best candidates, right?

Um, pretty much.

I mean, as far as what they’ll pay and what kind of talent there is there.

This is certainly, you know, a big hire, a big name, uh, an accomplished, accomplished guy.

I was trying to look to see.

When the last time, if ever, he’s been in in college, you have to go back to 2003, and he was a grad assistant at Syracuse, Matt Patricia.

So it’s been, it’s been a while.

Yeah, I mean, it’s still amazing to me if you go back to, I don’t know, October, mid November even, somebody told you that the Belichick mafia is gonna be all over college football, like, no way.

But here we are.

I’m sure he’s a very good defensive coordinator.

He wasn’t a very good head coach on the NFL level, but I mean, he wouldn’t have worked for Belichick for that long without having been good at his job, anticipating.

That he can make a transition to college, college schemes relating to college players and making his schemes understandable and everything to 18 to 22 year olds, I should work out fine.

They’re certainly going to have good players there.

The amount of back and forth between college and the NFL seems to be increasing.

Whether that’s salary or whether that’s style of play, I don’t know, but Uh, another example of it here.

Not an illustrious run with the Lions, 6 wins, 3 wins, 4 wins.

Uh, it was a disaster.

Does he owe Lions fans some payback, which would mean When Ohio State plays Michigan next year and Michigan State at some point, he throws the game.

Would that, does he owe Lions fans?

You’ve been, you’re an angry NFL fan often, Pat.

I’m gonna suggest that if he wants to keep his job past the 12th game of 2025, he does not throw the Michigan game by any means.

Do not throw the Michigan game.

That would be bad job security.
