Alabama heads into the 2025 college football season with a lot of talent at wide receiver.
There’s the obvious threat of sophomore Ryan Williams, only 17 years old last season. Germie Bernard (50 catches, 794 yards), Alabama’s leading receiver in catches, is back for his senior year with coach Kalen DeBoer since their days at Washington, and the Crimson Tide added former Miami Hurricanes threat Isaiah Horton (56 catches, 616 yards) in the transfer portal.
One player drawing a lot of buzz after an impressive spring is freshman Lotzeir Brooks (Millville, New Jersey). Fellow four-star Derek Meadows (Bishop Gorman, Las Vegas) is another possibility at wideout.
Led by Williams (48 catches, 865 yards), Alabama’s receiver group was ranked as the nation’s third-best heading into 2025 by CBS Sports’ Will Backus. Ohio State and star Jeremiah Smith were ranked No. 1, followed by Clemson.
Backus said:
“The Crimson Tide have plenty of quality depth to lean on outside the expected starting trio [Williams, Bernard, Horton]. Jalen Hale is working his way back from injury, former five-star prospect Jaylen Mbakwe is repping full time at wide receiver, and freshman Lotzeir Brooks is climbing the depth chart after turning heads in the spring.”
Alabama will open the 2025 season against the Florida State Seminoles at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee on Aug. 30 (2:30 p.m. CT, ABC).
More information about Alabama’s 2025 schedule related to kickoff times and TV channel assignments were announced on Wednesday.
