CFP rankings live updates: SEC bracket predictions, how to watch

Heading into the final weeks of the 2024 college football regular season, the SEC is — to put it kindly — a bit of a mess.

Though few would argue against the idea that the conference is one of the sport’s best, if not the best, there’s a logjam near the top of the league’s standings.

With Georgia knocking off Tennessee last Saturday, there are now six teams in the conference with fewer than three losses overall, including four that all have two losses in SEC play, presenting a stiff test for the conference championship game tiebreaker procedure for the newly expanded 16-team league.

On Tuesday night, some much-needed clarity was offered when the College Football Playoff selection committee unveiled its third set of rankings this season.

In last week’s rankings, there were five SEC teams between the No. 7 and No. 15 spots, something that may only get more convoluted after the Bulldogs’ victory over the Vols added another team to the ranks of two-loss SEC squads.

How, exactly, do Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama measure up against one another when they all have two losses and head-to-head results only add to the confusion, with the Bulldogs beating the Vols, who beat the Crimson Tide, which beat the Bulldogs? And then what to make of Ole Miss, which beat Georgia by 18, but has a loss to a 4-6 Kentucky team?

Here are the third full playoff rankings of the 2024 season, including where SEC teams landed in the top 25:
