Ciccone, Collins earn Philadelphia Baseball Review D-I College Player of the Week Honors

Players of the Week
Each week throughout the college baseball season, the Philadelphia Baseball Review recognizes standout performances across all divisions with our College Player and Pitcher of the Week honors, celebrating the region’s top talent and exceptional achievements.

This week, Saint Joseph’s right-hander Frank Ciccone takes home our Division I Pitcher of the Week honors after delivering a career-best outing on Friday. The junior ace pitched into the ninth inning, leading the Hawks to a 5-3 victory over Richmond at Smithson Field. Ciccone was dominant, working eight-plus innings while surrendering just two earned runs on four hits. He also struck out a career-high 11 batters, stifling a Richmond lineup that entered the weekend with a stellar 19-2 record. With his performance, he lowered his ERA to 2.73 over six starts this season.

On the offensive side, Penn’s Gavin Collins is our Division I Offensive Player of the Week. The sophomore outfielder played a pivotal role in the Quakers’ sweep of Harvard, finishing the week 7-for-15 at the plate with six RBIs, six runs scored, a double, and a home run. Collins has been a steady force in the Quakers’ lineup and is now hitting .314 on the season with two homers and 13 RBIs.

For nearly a decade, the Philadelphia Baseball Review has remained committed to covering college baseball across the region, shining a spotlight on the best amateur talent and their accomplishments. Stay tuned for weekly honors as we continue to celebrate the players making an impact on the diamond.
