Clemson football spring game live score updates, format, highlights, TV info

CLEMSON — Clemson football returns to Memorial Stadium for its annual Orange and White spring game.

The exhibition will feature changes, including an offense vs. defense format because of the number of injuries that Clemson is dealing with. Still, the game will allow key contributors and depth players to experience a game-like atmosphere in front of fans.

Clemson midyear enrollees and transfer portal players will get to experience gameday at Memorial Stadium, while defensive coordinator Tom Allen will show a glimpse of his defense Saturday (1 p.m. ET). Backup quarterback Christopher Vizzina will show his growth entering Year 3, and Clemson running backs will try to build stronger cases to be the team’s top back in 2025.

This will be Clemson’s lone dress rehearsal in front of fans before hosting LSU for its season opener on Aug. 30.

Clemson spring football game format changes

Instead of its typical split-squad scrimmage, Clemson will have offense (Orange team) vs. defense (White) format this year with a modified scoring system for the defense. The game will include 15-minute quarters with a running clock (except for two-minute scenarios) for the final three quarters. There will not be a full halftime.

Offensive scoring will mimic traditional method. Defensive scoring will be done by the following:

  • Takeaway (or fourth-down stop): 3 points
  • Missed placekick by offense: 3 points for missed field goal, 1 point for missed point-after attempt (PAT)
  • Stopped two-point conversion: 2 points
  • Three-and-out: 1 point
  • Standard defensive scoring: 7 points for defensive touchdown and PAT; 2 points for safety

The scrimmage will kickoff at 1 p.m. ET, but Clemson will warm up and do some competitive drill work prior to the scrimmage. Warmups will begin at noon, and around 12:20, the team will do a couple periods of “pass skeleton and pass rush drills,” per Clemson.

Several healthy players will also be in alternate color jerseys to designate them as non-tackle participants. These players will be in yellow for the unit in white jerseys and in green for the unit in orange jerseys. These yellow and green jerseys are not indicative of injury.
