Clemson rises, LSU falls in baseball power 10 rankings

Here is my Week 6 college baseball Power 10.

1. Tennessee | LW: 1

Tennessee stays on top. Despite a midweek loss, the Vols won a huge top-15 ranked series over Alabama to remain No. 1.

2. Arkansas | LW: 3

Arkansas is third after sweeping South Carolina. Brent Iredale hit a grand slam on Sunday as they put up double-digit runs in every single game.

3. Georgia | LW: 5

Georgia moves up to No. 3 with an incredible offensive outing in a road sweep over Florida. Seventeen runs scored on Saturday, a run-rule win on Sunday and back-to-back games with 6 homers per game this offense is rolling.

4. Florida State | LW: 4

FSU is at 4. The Noles won the series over Miami and lost a mid-week matchup to move down a spot. Even so, they have just 3 losses now on the season.

5. Clemson | LW: 7

The order from here on out was tough. Clemson, I have up at No. 5 after winning the series over Wake Forest.  The Tigers overcame a 6-0 deficit to win the series on Sunday against a strong Wake Forest team.

6. Oregon State | LW: 6

Oregon State stays around No. 6, after winning the series over Cal Poly last week.

7. Texas | LW: 8

The Longhorns, who I probably would have had a little higher had they not dropped a midweek game to UTSA,  got a big series win over LSU. Freshman pitcher Dylan Volantis impressed in the top 2 series win, with a pair of saves, retired 14 of the 15 batters he faced and notched seven strikeouts.

8. LSU | LW: 2

It feels like a bigger drop than it should be, but LSU had to fall below Texas for losing the series. Still very much a top-10 team.

9. Oklahoma | LW: 9

And then finally I have Oklahoma at No. 9. The Sooners won a series over Mississippi State.

10. Alabama | LW: 10

I kept Bama at No. 10 despite losing the series to Tennessee. After all, that’s the top team in the country, so we shouldn’t punish a team too much for taking a game from them and still 22-3 on the season.
