Fox Sports pundit Colin Cowherd is setting high expectations for the 2025 Patriots.

Even though New England is coming off back-to-back four-win seasons, the Patriots are poised to take a step forward this fall.

But could the Patriots actually make noise in the postseason?

Even though Cowherd predicts that the Bills will once again win the AFC East, he also believes that the Patriots could be the most-improved squad in the NFL this season.

“Patriots, I’ve said this, they will be the Washington of the NFL,” Cowherd said on FS1’s “The Herd” Tuesday. “I predicted Washington and Denver would be the most improved teams. I’m predicting the Patriots will be the most improved team. Drake Maye actually has a coach and they’ve made major upgrade [on the] O- and D-line.”

The Patriots would welcome a similar season as the one the Commanders submitted in 2024.

After going 4-13 in 2023, the Commanders stormed onto the scene with a 12-5 record in 2024 — advancing to the NFC Championship Game for the first time since 1991.

While the arrival of rookie QB Jayden Daniels set Washington on the path to success, a new head coach in Dan Quinn and multiple offseason additions via free agency and the draft also facilitated the Commanders’ quick turnaround.

The Patriots could follow a similar script in 2025.

Not only does New England have a potential franchise QB in place in Maye, they also secured some stability in the coaching ranks by hiring Mike Vrabel as head coach.

Not only should Vrabel, Josh McDaniels, and a revamped coaching staff help snuff out some of the dysfunction that reared its head in 2024, but New England also upgraded its roster during the offseason.

The Patriots utilized some of its sizable cap space this spring to add playmakers on both sides of the ball in Milton Williams, Stefon Diggs, Carlton Davis, Robert Spillane, Morgan Moses, Harold Landry, and others.

Add in an encouraging draft where New England shored up other areas of need by adding offensive linemen like Will Campbell and Jared Wilson — along with explosive talents like RB TreVeyon Henderson and WR Kyle Williams — and New England is poised to submit stronger returns this season.
