MARSHALL, Texas – Receiving two major American Southwest Conference awards, East Texas Baptist University had 15 student-athletes earn All-ASC. Joaquin Costa is the ASC Freshman of the Year and Luke Bumpus is the ASC Newcomer of the Year. ETBU also had seven players earn All-ASC first-team, which was the most in the ASC.
Costa becomes the fifth player at ETBU to earn an ASC Freshman of the Year award following Alan Underwood (2019), Tyler Bates (East-2013), Andrew Cantrell (East-2006) and Nathaniel Jordan (East-2000). He is an All-ASC honorable mention selection and is second on the team in batting average at .362 with 26 runs scored, 42 hits, six doubles, three home runs and 24 RBI.
Bumpus is the fifth player to be named ASC Newcomer of the Year for ETBU after Brett Wagner (2022), Kyle Pope (East-2008), Tommy Edwards (East-2003), Marty Mayfield (East-2001), Jared Landry (East-2000). He is an All-ASC first-team member and leads ETBU in batting average (.415), hits (51) and doubles (11). He also has six home runs with 35 RBI and 38 runs scored.
Nicolas Chavez, Hunter Rumachik, Dylan Burnaman, Luke Finn, Jagger Neely and Matthew Irwin were named to the All-ASC first team with Bumpus.
Bumpus earned the award for outfield in his first year at ETBU, adding to his ASC Hitter of the Week award on April 22. He leads ETBU in batting (.415), hits (51), and doubles (11) and has 38 runs scored with six home runs and 35 RBI.
Chavez is a two-time All-ASC selection at catcher and made the 2025 ASC All-Tournament team. He is batting .293 with 27 hits, five doubles, and 15 RBI.
Rumachik gains his second All-ASC award in two years as a Tiger at first base. He has eight home runs with a .331 batting average with 46 hits, nine doubles and 35 RBI.
Burnaman is also a two-time All-ASC selection on the first team at shortstop. He is batting .312 with 44 hits, nine doubles, six home runs and 29 RBI.
Finn earned his first All-ASC award at ETBU, but it was his third overall in the outfield. In his first year at ETBU, he is third in batting at .350 with 41 runs scored, 46 hits, six doubles, four home runs and 28 RBI.
Neely is now a four-time All-ASC award winner as a pitcher and was on the first team for the first time. The two-time ASC Tournament MVP is 3-1 with a 2.63 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 41 innings pitched.
Irwin is a first-team selection at pitcher for the first time. On March 3, he was the ASC Pitcher of the Week and made the ASC All-Tournament team. He is 7-2 with a 3.97 ERA in 59 innings pitched, recording 44 strikeouts.
Earning All-ASC second-team are Carson Livesay, Connor Massimini, Ben Lea, Tyler Bogusz, Brayden Hodge, and Carson Speegle.
Livesay is a first-time recipient in his first year at ETBU in the outfield. He is batting .328 with 35 runs scored, 43 hits, eight doubles, four home runs, and 22 RBI. He leads the team with 23 stolen bases.
Massimini is a two-time All-ASC player in the outfield. He was the ASC Hitter of the Week and made the D3baseball.com Team of the Week on April 23. He has a .326 batting average with 32 runs scored, 30 hits, five doubles, 10 home runs and 31 RBI. His 10 home runs lead the team.
Lea is also a two-time All-ASC selection, making it as designated hitter this year. He was the ASC Hitter of the Week on March 31. He leads the team with 37 RBI and has a .350 batting average, 41 runs scored, 11 doubles, nine home runs and 11 stolen bases.
Bogusz, Hodge, and Speegle all earn their first award as pitchers. Bogusz is 5-1 with a 3.93 ERA with 32 strikeouts in 50.1 innings pitched. Hodge has a 5.17 ERA with 13 strikeouts in 15.2 innings with a 1-0 record. Speegle has pitched in 30.1 innings with a 5.04 ERA, with 29 strikeouts and is 4-2.
William Howard made the All-ASC third-team as a second baseman. He is batting .333 with 23 runs scored, 36 hits, seven doubles, two home runs and 22 RBI.
ETBU will host the NCAA Division III Marshall, Texas Regional Tournament and face Millsaps on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
