College baseball: BPCC sweeps Tyler Junior College

BPCC Press Release

Bossier Parish Community College swept a Region 14 doubleheader against Tyler Junior College Saturday at BPCC.

The Cavs won the first game 4-3 and the second 4-0. BPCC improved to 12-5 overall and 4-2 in the conference.

In the opening game, BPCC wasted no time showcasing its power at the plate. Dylan Biddick and Daniel Pinkerton each launched home runs, contributing significantly to the offense.

Biddick’s performance was especially noteworthy as he not only homered but also tripled, driving in three runs and helping his team build a lead.

Pinkerton’s home run added to the fireworks, making it clear that Bossier Parish was locked in at the plate.

Ben McKinnon got the start and delivered a solid performance on the mound. He threw five innings, allowing five hits and three runs while keeping Tyler Junior College in check.

McKinnon’s command of the game helped maintain a steady rhythm for the team. When the game was on the line in the later innings, former Parkway standout Brandon Levy came into close, showing poise and dominance. Levy struck out one batter and sealed the victory.

The second game was an absolute gem for Bossier Parish.

Garrett Blanchard was simply lights out, throwing seven innings of nearly flawless baseball. Blanchard surrendered only two hits, striking out nine and most impressively, getting the shutout.

His ability to control the game was a testament to his focus and skill, leaving Tyler Junior College hitters with few options.

Jake Skellybcame in to relieve Blanchard in the final two innings, and he continued the trend of dominant pitching. Skelly struck out three batters and allowed just two hits, keeping Tyler Junior College from mounting any kind of serious comeback.

Offensively, Bossier Parish did just enough to secure the win. Haley Stringfellow played the role of hero with a clutch single that plated two crucial runs, providing the cushion his team needed

Stringfellow finished the game 2-for-3, contributing both offensively and defensively. Meanwhile, Pinkerton was again a force at the plate, adding two hits to his earlier performance in game one.

BPCC baseball is thankful for the hospitality from Airline Baseball in hosting these games as BPCC’s field is under construction with a new stadium coming.

The Cavaliers are back in action Monday as they travel to Camden, Ark.,  to take on the SAU-Tech Rockets. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
