BPCC Press Release
Bossier Parish Community College baseball etched its name in the history books in 2025, capturing its first conference title in 25 years and inaugural Region 14 championship.
The Cavaliers’ remarkable season was honored with a slew of awards, including Region 14 North Coach of the Year for Bobby Gilliam, Region 14 North Pitcher of the Year for Garrett Blanchard, and First-Team All-Conference selections for Dylan Biddick, Parker Gwyn, Jacob Gillis, and Ben McKinnon. Additional honors went to DJ Pinkerton (Second-Team All-Conference) and Zander Bretza and Gianluca Montanaro (Honorable Mention), highlighting the depth of talent that powered BPCC’s championship run.
Bobby Gilliam: Region 14 North Coach of the Year
Head coach Bobby Gilliam was named Region 14 North Coach of the Year for orchestrating BPCC’s historic season. Under his leadership, the Cavaliers secured their first-ever Region 14 title and their first conference championship since 2000. Gilliam’s eight-year tenure has been transformative, with the Cavs reaching the playoffs in five seasons and amassing 224 wins, placing him among the program’s all-time winningest coaches.
Gilliam’s impact extends far beyond the field. Nearly 60 players have advanced to Division I baseball under his guidance, over 50 have earned all-conference honors, and two have claimed Region 14 Pitcher of the Year awards. Four former Cavaliers from the Gilliam era have reached professional baseball, a testament to his ability to develop elite talent. The 2025 season stands as a pinnacle of Gilliam’s tenure, showcasing his strategic brilliance and dedication to building a winning culture.
Garrett Blanchard: Region 14 North Pitcher of the Year
Sophomore Garrett Blanchard dominated as the Cavaliers’ ace, earning Region 14 North Pitcher of the Year honors. The sinker-baller posted a 5-2 record with a 1.92 ERA over 61 innings, holding opponents to a .210 batting average and allowing just three extra-base hits all season. His command and ability to induce weak contact were critical to BPCC’s championship success. In a tough blow to Blanchard and the Cavs an injury will keep Blanchard out of postseason play, but his contributions as a shutdown starter will resonate throughout the program’s historic season.
First-Team All-Conference Selections
Dylan Biddick (Outfield): The sweet-swinging lefty earned his second All-Conference nod after a stellar 2025 season, hitting .400 with 20 doubles, 9 home runs, and 43 RBIs. Biddick finished second in Region 14 Player of the Year voting. Over his BPCC career, he hit .379 with 12 home runs, 32 doubles, 75 RBIs, and a .474 on-base percentage, cementing his legacy as one of the program’s all-time greats.

His career stats include a .357 average, 28 doubles, 11 home runs, and 67 RBIs, showcasing his consistency and power as a cornerstone of the Cavaliers’ lineup. Gwyn’s grit and drive will be needed for the Cavs to win games in the post season.
Jacob Gillis (First Base): The slugging first baseman earned First-Team All-Conference honors despite missing time due to injury. Gillis hit .396 with 6 doubles, 4 home runs, and a remarkable .535 on-base percentage, drawing 27 walks against just 13 strikeouts. His strong second half was pivotal in BPCC’s championship push.
Ben McKinnon (Pitcher): The freshman right-hander emerged as a workhorse, leading the team with 63 innings pitched and posting a 6-2 record, 67 strikeouts, and a 3.82 ERA. The only freshman to earn First-Team All-Conference honors, McKinnon’s consistency earned him a spot in the 2026 All-Star Game at Dallas Baptist University.
Additional Honors
DJ Pinkerton (Centerfield, Second-Team All-Conference): Pinkerton had a breakout season, hitting .338 with 9 doubles, 11 home runs, and a team-leading 47 RBIs. His dynamic play in centerfield and at the plate made him a key contributor to BPCC’s success.
Zander Bretza (Closer, Honorable Mention): The hard-throwing righty with a mid-90s fastball went 4-1 with 5 saves, striking out 45 batters in 31 innings. Bretza’s ability to slam the door in high-pressure situations was vital to the Cavaliers’ championship run.
Gianluca Montanaro (Designated Hitter, Honorable Mention): Montanaro hit .318 with 8 doubles as the team’s DH, providing a reliable bat in the heart of the lineup.
