Press release/staff report

Catawba College junior shortstop Nathan Chrismon (South Rowan) has been  named to the inaugural Allstate National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics Good Works Team for the spring.

The team honors 20 student-athletes across all collegiate divisions who are leading in their sport, in the classroom and in their communities.

Chrismon brought awareness to his non-profit, Stealing Hearts NC, to the Catawba baseball community, which supports local youth through sports. Chrismon led the charge in Catawba offering Stealing Hearts sponsors for each of its home games this season, with added fundraising for every stolen base the Indians recorded.

Stealing Hearts sponsors have donated $7,200.

Chrismon holds a 3.8 cumulative GPA and is a three-year member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Chrismon was one of the leaders for South Rowan’s 3A state championship team in 2022 and was the Mark Norris Memorial Award winner as Rowan County Player of the Year.

He played two seasons at East Carolina before transferring to Catawba for his junior year. He’s been reunited at Catawba with long-time friend and teammate Ty Hubbard, who was his double-play partner at South.

Chrismon has played in all 48 games for Catawba. He’s batting .290 with a .421 on-base percentage.

His 49 hits include 10 doubles, two homers and a triple. He’s 17 for 21 on steal attempts. He’s scored 36 runs while driving in 32.
