GROTTOES, Va. — Jackson Deal (South Rowan) hit two home runs in Methodist University’s 13-1 win against Mary Baldwin University in the first game of a Saturday doubleheader.
Deal hit solo homers in the first and fourth innings, his second and third of the season.
After batting .331 as a junior, Deal got off to a rough start this season. He was 3-for-29 in late February. But then he had a 7-for-11 doubleheader against Wheaton on the first day of March that got things turned around for him.
He’s started all 27 games for the Monarchs (18-9) and is batting .300 with 16 RBIs, 26 runs scored and 10 steals.
