Staff report

SALISBURY — Dylan Driver had four hits on Wednesday at Newman Park and socked his ninth homer, but it wasn’t enough.

The sixth-ranked Catawba Indians (23-9)  fell 5-4 to North Georgia (21-9) and have their first two-game losing streak of the season.

Other than Driver, a former Carson star who scored two, drove in two and stole three bases, most of the lineup was quiet. Hunter Atkins had two doubles. Cole Hales (Carson) had two RBIs.

The Indians got down 3-0 in the third inning and never caught up, so starting pitcher Carson Edmiston took the loss. The Indians used eight pitchers to stay in the game. They trailed 5-2 going to the ninth. That’s when Driver hit a two-run homer, but the Indians were still a run short.

Driver has 28 RBIs.

Catawba’s next game will be next Wednesday at USC Aiken.
